These small pieces of art are carefully cut, ground and finally polished with wax by hand in line with a long tradition. These little pieces have been painted with trend colours since the beginning of the 1990’s. Because of this, no fish is like another. Each one is unique, a true one of a kind! Fair trade with our partners is important to us. That why we take great care that contracts are spread over the whole year and the payment is made fairly to trade partners.
Making the glass beads of faith: The idea is simple and yet it has it all: eighteen beads in your hand. Each one has its own meaning. It stands for a question of life, a thought, a prayer. Joined together to form a string of pearls, the pearls can symbolise the journey of life. They make faith tangible and encourage people to rediscover and understand Christian tradition. They are a catechism (faith lesson) for the hands, a simple tool for finding and practising one's own spiritual path. The beads help to interrupt everyday life for a moment and to come to oneself, to other people, to God.The "Beads of Faith" are produced in collaboration with Divine Chocolate Scandinavia, the House of Fair Trade in Sweden and Tara Projects in India in accordance with fair trade standards. The beads are made by hand in a village in northern India and processed into bracelets at Tara Projects in New Delhi. Between 40 and 50 families in the village receive a secure income from the production of the beads. The children in the village go to the school that Tara Projects built with the help of the proceeds from the "Beads of Faith" and do not have to work. Tara Projects guarantees good working conditions, decent wages and the opportunity for people to develop their skills.
