Breakfast Board “Ichthys”
A lovely breakfast board made of alder wood with a lasered out fish symbol. A fitting gift for young and old. The "Ichthys" symbol originates in the greek language, with "Ichthys" meaning "Fish". Back in the day when Christianity was outlawed, the first Christians used this symbol as a secret way to recognize each other. In order to find out wether a stranger was a follower of Jesus, they drew a curved line in the sand. If the stranger completed the fish with a curved line of their own, they showed that they were a christian as well. The fish wasn’t chosen at random, but rather has two meanings. Firstly, it refers Mark 1:17 where Jesus called upon Simon (who was later named Peter) and his brother Andrew while they were fishing in the Sea of Galilee to go with him and become fishers of men. As well as this, a type of profession of faith can be derived from the beginning letters of the Greek word: I - JesusCh - Christ [the "anointed", in Hebrew "Maschiach" (the Messiah)]Th – God‘sY – Son  S – Saviour
