Icon with the image of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel. The motif is printed on paper, finished with shiny gold metal foil, covered with a protective varnish and mounted on wood. The icon has a size of 10 x 14 cm.

Icons are images of the saints and windows to an otherworldly world. The oldest preserved icons date back to the 5th and 6th centuries and belong, among others, to the treasure of St. Catherine's Monastery on Mount Sinai. Since the 8th/9th century, they have been painted with tempera paints on a wooden panel.
